Friends in twice exceptional group

Twice Exceptional (2e) Youth Group

  • Connect with other gifted teens who understand your neurodivergent experiences and accept you as you are, building your self-confidence.
  • Prepare for college and young adulthood by building neuro-friendly stress-management skills, healthy relationships, and emotional resilience.

As parents of a twice-exceptional teen, you see how your child excels in specific areas but struggles with essential life skills. They might be talented at mathematics, coding, art, music, or writing while encountering difficulties in communicating, executive functioning, or self-help skills. They may be lonely, having difficulty making or keeping healthy friendships. Their baseline anxiety levels might be extremely high, making it harder for them to manage emotions when faced with difficulties. They might be self-critical, causing them to ignore their needs and push through. This only leads to autistic burnout and lack of self-confidence. Importantly, you want them to be emotionally and psychologically prepared for college and the transition to young adulthood.

Our Twice Exceptional (2e) Group is tailored for teens who are gifted and neurodivergent or exhibit autistic traits. This group aims to provide an encouraging environment where gifted teens can embrace their strengths while receiving support in areas needing further development. Groups are facilitated by a licensed therapist who will provide your child strategies to manage stress, and gain self-understanding and confidence. Your teen will learn skills to care for themself and their unique wiring.

By hearing group members share their experiences, your child will realize they’re not alone and gain valuable insights into themselves. Group support and validation will foster self-acceptance and self-compassion, helping your child become more resilient. Connecting with group members and learning relationship skills will prepare your child for building healthy relationships in adulthood.

  • With up to 8 participants, we meet once a week for 1 hour over 20 weeks.
